mac-a-licious

Yay!  I'm a proud new mac book owner!

My PC was terminal, and I had to make a choice, get another PC or get a Mac.  The decision was pretty easy.  Yes, they're a bit more expensive, but it's totally worth it for the capabilities that the PC just doesn't have.

Bring on the photo editing!!!

collage on alberta

Collage on NE Alberta Street is THE BEST place on earth (ok -- for sure the best place on Alberta Steet)! For hours, info and upcoming events check out the website at: http://collageonalberta.com/ - or check out Maria's blog to see what's new and exciting.

Collage has all kinds of art supplies as well as the most excellent papers, and card stock stacks around. If you need some little obscure something or other related to arts and crafts, it's a pretty good bet that they have it.

Collage is also the spot where DIY Lounge has it's classes, so check it out next time you're on Alberta St. you won't be sorry!!!

rock paper scissors

Here are a few photos of my work on display at
rock paper scissors salon (4422 SE Hawthorne Blvd).

Susan Clark is quite possibly the most talented woman with a pair of scissors that I've ever met! Her hair designs and cuts are unparalleled and affordable. If you're shopping for a new look, give her a try!

Stop in and check out her new space, or what the heck,
call her and make an appointment...you won't be sorry!

kudos...

Just wanted to give kudos to those of you who made my life a lot easier this week:

First, I can't even begin to tell you how much I love the Paper Zone (http://www.paperzone.com/, 1136 Se Grand Ave., Portland, OR 97214)!!! Not only do they have all the most gorgeous paper you could ever want (as you might imagine from their name), but they also have the most awesome helpful staff. They have creative ideas, and they let you try stuff out! The carry the filofax line, AND they have a really awesome assortment of notebooks (a fetish of mine). If you haven't been to the Paper Zone, you should totally go there! I got some great tips, great ideas and great products there this week. So thanks a bunch.

Second, Go Daddy.com (http://www.godaddy.com/), they've really made it easy to register a domain name and create a website. Been there, done that with Network Solutions, and I have to say, Go Daddy is easier all around. I'm in full on ramp up mode, so I decided to create my own website because I wanted it NOW, and since I signed up for my domain name there I decided to use their "website tonight" deal. After about 7 hours straight of trying to make it do things it seemingly wouldn't, (along with a pitifully slow internet connection) I am happy to report...SUCCESS. My website is up and running. Have a look and tell me what you think: http://www.laurajamesdesigns.com/

And finally, the Kinko's/FedEx Store on 1605 NE 7th Ave., Portland, OR -- where the printing abilities are endless and the guys that work there are the BEST. It's also 24 hours. Love it! Love that I can go there whenever and the possibilities are endless. I found myself fantasizing about a very large banner...

So thanks. Thanks a lot for making my diy life a lot easier!!!

happy new year!

Wishing you all a very happy new year! I have a really good feeling about 2008. I am working on creating my website and filling up my etsy store. There are so many exciting new things in the works. Thank you all for your support, I appreciate the feedback and I'm glad you like the new art.

A bit of new year inspiration:
"...why be an average person? All the great achievements of history have been made by strong individuals who refused to consult statistics or to listen to those who could prove convincingly that what they wanted to do, and in fact ultimately did do, was completely impossible."
~ Eric Butterworth
