A Thing of Beauty by A.J. Cronin It's incredibly sad, but the main character follows his passion, his art through all kinds of turmoil. He goes against the grain, against his family but they accept him anyway. I don't know, it spoke to me.
She Said Yes by Misty Bernall. It's about Cassie Bernall, one of the Columbine victims and how she changed. It's sad, too...since I already knew how it ended. It challenged me.

I love art and am inspired by creativity in all of its mysterious manifestations. Expressing myself through art allows me to keep moving forward, affirming my belief that we're all infinitely creative, it just depends on our ability to access it and share it. Discovering kilnformed glass was and continues to be life changing because it allows me to explore the endless realm of creative possibilities. Kilnformed glass is both a science and an art. The process is ever changing and manipulating the glass is a detail-oriented endeavor. The calculated (yet sometimes surprising) outcome --incorporating the transparent quality of the glass, the depth of a piece, working in different layers and anticipating the way light will reflect through those layers -- is what brings me back again and again. The world around me is an abundant source of material, always inspiring and challenging me. I delight in the unexplored. + + + + + + + + + Bio: Laura James is currently hard at work building her kilnformed glass empire which includes a line of glass jewelry allowing her to create wearable, accessible art.
